North Bastar Kanker, 23 June 2025/ Positive changes are now visible even in the remote sensitive areas of the district due to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The dream of pucca houses of the villagers is also coming true in the interior villages. Villagers have also started getting the benefit of pucca houses in the highly sensitive panchayats of Kandari and Sitaram of development block Koylibeda.

Due to the rain water coming in the Kotri river in the boundary of Koylibeda block, these villages are completely cut off from the main stream. In such a situation, transport facilities are not available in these villages. District Panchayat CEO Mr. Haresh Mandavi informed that in the financial year 2024-25, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin in Koylibeda block, a total of 244 beneficiaries have been approved for housing, out of which 226 beneficiaries have received the first installment amount.  In order to start the construction work, the construction work has been started by meeting the beneficiaries from time to time and oriented them. He informed that out of these houses, work up to plinth level has been completed in 43 houses, work up to window level has been completed in 40 houses, work up to wall-door level has been completed in 13 houses, wall work has been completed in 7 houses and preparations are being made for casting the roof in these houses, there are 9 houses whose roof has been completed and plastering work is being done in two houses; construction of these houses will be completed soon.  He told that since these Panchayats are remote and inaccessible areas, due to the presence of Kotri river, movement in such areas stops completely during rains. To ensure that there is no hindrance in the construction work during rains, a plan was made and the beneficiaries were oriented and encouraged to collect the necessary construction material before the road gets blocked due to rain water in the river and they were helped in collecting the construction material, due to which construction material has been collected for 70 out of 74 houses in which only the foundation work was completed. Also, in view of the shortage of masons in such areas, efforts are also being made for the youth who want to learn the work of masons, so that by forming a housing team and training the masons, the houses can be completed as well as the number of new masons can be increased, so that even in such remote Panchayats, the beneficiaries can get the benefit of important schemes of the government within the time limit.
